Hi All! My French teacher wants to play Battle Ship, only we dont' have a blindie version. Is there any way of making one, on account of how we don't have time to order one, and I don't even know if there is one? Thanks so much! Caitlin
Why don't you get the talking battel ship. You can get that from any toy store. Yeah you could take a piece of braille graph papper and use it to mark where you hit a ship. I don't know what you would mark with but you could come up with something.
type it, print it, tape it. ;)
Just curious, how is this classified as " urgent " ?
because it's for school?
Yeah it's urgent because we're gonna probably be playing it soon and my French teacher needs some ideas and i'm all out! Lol! She said she has some ideas ... but wants to ask you all about them. So either she's gonna sign up here or I'm gonna ask for her ahaha. I sent her the link to this topic and what not but obviously she can't post without logging in and she can't log in without signing up lol. Wonder what'll happen? Anyway thansk for all your ideas ... keep htem coming!
Hi Caitlin.
www.gamesfortheblind.com
has a trial version of an accessible battle ship game. It has speech built in, so you do not need a screen reader such as JAWS for Windows. This makes it possible to play the game without the need for sighted assistance. This is ideal, especially if your French teacher is not blind or does not use a screen reader!
The trial lasts for 15 days, I think. Since I have not downloaded the game trial, I do not know how many megabytes the game is. Hope this helps.

Nifty Blake! I don't know how exactly this is tying into French, so this may or may not work, same with the talking battle ship. But I will have to have a word with her. THis may help. THanks!

P.S. My french teacher is a sightie. Lol.
Can someone remind me the basic way to play the game lol? All I remember is hit and msis. Maybe if I remmbered more I could think of an idea of how to adapt it heheh. thanks in advance. Caitlin
Well, battleship reminds me a bit of Jim Kitchen's concentration game. Basically, you press a letter and number, like b2. then you try to find the cordinates of, say, a destroyer. for example. if the first destroyer is at b2 and c3, you get a hit if you hit b2 and c3. At least I believe that is how battleship operates, it has been a while since I played.
